Following up on my session at Claris Engage 2025, this presentation dives deeper into the capabilities of the Execute FileMaker Data API script step - now more powerful than ever with full read and write support introduced in Claris FileMaker 2024. We’ll take a closer look at advanced use cases that go beyond basic CRUD operations, exploring strategies for modular design, context-free scripting, and performance optimization when working with large datasets or multi-file systems.

Attendees will walk through a series of real-world demos that demonstrate how this script step can be used to streamline log creation, implement transactional batch updates, and handle related record manipulation—all using native JSON structures. We’ll also discuss how the script step can act as a middle layer in an abstraction pattern, giving developers more control over security, logic reuse, and audit trails.
