We’re all mortal right? Who can blame a client for wondering about our longevity when they express concern about the future of their client-developer relationship? When someone asks: “What if you get hit by a bus?” do you have a better answer than saying you look both ways whenever you cross the street? Indeed, we do our estate planning and carry insurance policies for the benefit of our families, but what about our FileMaker clients?

Sooner or later, we all have to consider either semi or full retirement from our FileMaker careers. It’s important to prepare your loyal clients for that eventuality without putting your ongoing relationship at risk. Likewise, we must give thought to the advance preparation that’s recommended for the databases you are responsible for. Even if you are only temporarily unavailable for vacation time, illness or other situations not as unpleasant or extreme as your sudden demise, these matters should not be ignored.

This conference presentation will be led by two FileMaker experts, Mike Ross and Dennis Burnham, who have confronted these questions in their own careers. Group discussion is welcome and encouraged! Bring your ideas and business experiences to this session. Let’s generate recommendations that you can put into effect when you return home from the conference and perhaps shared with the FileMaker community at-large.
